  • Conduction of Agro-economic, environmental, social and gender screening studies through PRA and Focus Group Discussions, Group Meetings, Village level Meeting, Group of village level meetings which helps in building rapport with communities, building knowledge base on the scheme, villages and households.
  • Completion of technical screening and participatory scheme design. The task include basic surveys, formation of Farmers Design Committee (FDC), alignment surveys, transact walk, preparation of command maps, catchment maps, submergence maps, preparation of list of the irrigators and Project Affected Persons (PAP), finalising the scheme design and getting approval of the scheme design by the FDC and the irrigators.

F. Watershed development and management

  • Prepare comprehensive Integrated Watershed Development and Conservation Action Plan. RAES use participatory methods such as PRA, home to home survey, meetings with key persons etc.
  • Staff facilitation and strengthening of Village Watershed Committee (WC) for implementing the programme.
  • Execution of Entry Point Activity (EPA)
  • Execution of area and drainage line treatments such as Continues Contour Trenches, Loose Boulders, Gabian Structures, Farm Ponds, Cement Check Dam, Farm Bunding and Plantation.
  • Formation and strengthening of SHG.
  • Entrepreneurs training and linking with Banks.
  • Formation of co-operative units like Women Milk Co-operative Dairy etc.
  • Federation of women SHGs in to an umbrella organization namely Sanyukta Mahila Samiti (SMS).
  • Formation of User Groups for each of the watershed treatment and these groups are provided with capacity building inputs such as technical and managerial.
  • Exposure visits for Watershed Committee, SMS, UG (Users Group), Farmers and Women.
  • Promotion of village level activities that creates enabling environment for the development such as total sanitation campaign. It helps the village community to bag first prize at Taluka level and first prize for water management at District level.
  • Promotion of community to observe social discipline of five principle of Nashabandi (Ban on liquor), Charaibandi (Ban of Free Grazing), Nasbandi (Restriction of Family Size), Kurhadbandi (Ban on Tree Felling), Shramdan (Donation of Voluntary Labour for Community Welfare).

I. Prepare a environmentally Sustainable village development plan under Eco-village Development plan

  • RAES has undertaken a programme for long term, urban/ village planning for preparation and development of a environmentally sustainable village.
  • It includes quality assessment of environment, preservation and control of pollution, rural sanitation, solid and liquid waste management, water resources management, sustainable agriculture, livestock management, forest development and management, creation of renewable energy and management, village industries development, eco-housing infrastructure development, tourism development, sustainable habitation and infrastructure plan, industrial and commercial improvement and management plan, eco-tourism, heritage improvement, ecology conservation and village capacity building plan.
